I love knowing, if I follow a recipe, cooking and especially baking can be a scientific process. I enjoy pushing the tried and tested recipes; I want to know what will happen if I tweak a good recipe. Will it fall apart or will it become great?

I feel that food has to look good for people to want to try a new recipe. Humans are very visual creatures. I, right after worrying about how a new recipe tastes, am concerned with its presentation capabilities and aesthetics. People love pretty food.

I live in Seattle with my husband, Hermit. We also have two cats, Java and Bella. We’ve been together for almost 12 years and he’s the best food taster. He will tell me exactly what he thinks of everything I make. I would much rather know how to improve rather than blindly assume everything is great.

Luckily for me, he usually has great things to say about my food creations.
